Does this mean I'm addicted?

Okay, since I'm new to blogger world I need some help. As I browse other blogs, I noticed "themed" days: Wordless Wednesday, Sunday Shoutouts, etc. Some have giveaways (Where do they get stuff to give away?) and contests. Does anything go? Is it stealing to copy someone's idea or is it like participating in a group project? How do you make blogger friends and have people you don't even know following your blog? I have found blogs of people that I know from work, high school or college, but some I only know through association and then some not at all. I'm assuming it's cool to just "follow" someone's blog? Okay, I admit I'm have, ahem, a little OCD. I have to know and understand all about something. So, a dork I may be, but advice
anyone?

Hi...from Kjelshus Update. I admit there is a bit of blog etiquette that exists and it takes a while to learn it.

Here's what I have learned (and I am sure there is much more to learn):

Giveaways: If a blog has a lot of followers, you expect a giveaway or 2. Sometimes the person is eating the cost themselves. Once enough hits happen on a blog, usually a sponser will donate gifts to be given....make sense?

Dork or not: It's fine to follow a blog whether or not you know the person. If you happen upon a blog, from another blog, and so on...keep reading it. My guess is that if the blogger didn't want certain people reading it, they would have set high security options on it. My blog is pretty open to the public. I monitor comments though. Some people are great writers. Their blogs become more addicting....right?

Linking: In my experience, it is sometimes best to ask before linking because some people like to be a bit private or monitor who is visiting. I do that by using Sitemeter. It is free.

Comments: I don't know a single person who doesn't appreciate a fun comment. So leave them whenever possible!

On my blog I have an entry about blogging terminology. It is interesting.

Themes: Wordless Wednesday is when you post s super cute picture with little to no words. Some people do it every Wednesday, others do it on random Wednesdays. Soem pblogs hold contests and you have to link to the original post to play. It isn't stealing or anything if you join in. If ever you copy/paste someones blog to yours without linking back....that could cause a leagal problem...always give credit where it is due.

Happy blogging!

I hope you don't mind my super long and wordy comment. I have been reading your blog for a bit so I thought I would finally comment!
